Open Studio — Annelyse Gelman & Zoe Williams

The Foundation is pleased to welcome poet Annelyse Gelman and visual artist Zoe Williams to the third session of the 2021 residency in Visual Arts & Creative Writing. They will each develop a research project in pairs for a period of six weeks.

Annelyse Gelman is a poet from Portland, Oregon, published in Newyorker Magazine and Bomb Magazine. Her work explores the notion of social and ecological vulnerability and our relationship to non-human intelligences. For this residency, she will focus her poetic research on the intelligence of plants.

Zoe Williams lives and works in London and explores the links between craft, magic and gender through the use of video, ceramics and performance. At the Foundation, she will be working to develop a new film project, around fantasy and myth as a tool of resistance. Zoe Williams is represented by Ciaccia Levi Paris, and collaborates with institutions such as Spike Island.
