Zoe WILLIAMS / Visual arts & creative writings

Zoe Williams spends her time on the residency researching and developing a new film project, which will explore notions of fantasy and myth as forms of resistance to dominant power structures, particularly within the context of the British land and seascape. Using writing, found imagery and drawing as starting points; she’ll work on developing a new body of work, using the motif of the rockpool as a generative subliminal symbol and framing device.

Zoe Williams, born in 1983 in the UK is a visual artist. She lives and works in London. Her practice incorporates moving image, ceramics, drawing and performance-based work. Her work plays with creating tensions between the grotesque and the seductive; exploring notions of craft, magic, gender and excess. She has worked with institutions including Mimosa House Gallery, London; David Roberts Art Foundation, London; Kunstraum, London; Spike Island, Bristol; DCA Dundee and Glasgow International Festival. She is currently represented by Ciaccia Levi Gallery, Paris.
